Party Time

This past weekend, the kids were little social butterflies. They got to visit with some friends and have some fun. We celebrated two little girls' 1st birthdays - Coleman Kinney and Kaytlin Stubbings... and we squeezed in a visit with our neighbor John Elliott's Harry Potter Birthday party - sorry no pictures of that!

Coleman is such a blessing and we are thankful for her precious little life for so many reasons. Abby and Coleman shared fashion tips and talked about hair accessories while Cody played with Cooper,Tradd, Nathan and the other boys. (Make sure you watch the world's slowest wreck video from that day)

Kaytlin had an Elmo party - of course Cody had a ball! Kaytlin's mommy & daddy are our old neighbors from Chadbury and we sure do miss them. They had a playhouse that Cody was obsessed with - I bet he will talk Clay into building him one soon enough.

It is amazing how fast these kids are growing up! Cody will be having his second birthday soon....I haven't even began to think about how we will celebrate his birthday this year. I'm just hoping I remember to celebrate Christmas before 2008 gets here!

World's Slowest Wreck

No children were injured during the making of this film. He's ok!

Big Boy Bed

Tonight is Cody's first night sleeping in his big boy bed. It makes me sad to think that he is ready for such independence, but I guess it is inevitable. I just snuck in there and checked on him and had to take a picture for the blog. Here it is....

Abby's 4 Month Check-Up

Abby is doing great! She weighs in just under 13 lbs (30th percentile) and she is about 25 1/2 inches long (90th percentile) and her head circumference is right on target for her age. So, that means we have another long and lean baby....not sure how Clay and I managed to do that, but I guess that its good. Abby is wearing 3 - 6 month clothes and some things she probably could wear 6 month clothes depending on the length. Its amazing how fast they grow! Here are some pictures from her doctor visit. She was rolling around all over that table!

December is here already?!

Clay got our tree our put up last week and it still doesn't have any decorations on it. I'm nervous about putting anything that would remotely look like a "ball" on the tree because Cody will find a way to get it. If you haven't picked up on it yet, the boy loves balls! And I'm fine with that as long as he's not playing with my beautiful glass ornaments as balls...that could get messy.

Speaking of messy, we are realizing that Cody has an internal mess-o-meter...if there isn't a good sticky mess within 10 feet of him, have no fear ...Cody's here! He has mastered the art of getting into drawers, pulling things off of the countertops, turning over cups, plates, etc....all for the fun of seeing how big of a mess he can make. The weird thing is he can manage to look cute the whole time he's doing it!
Here is a picture that Clay took of Santa Cody today....I think he left a lump of coal in his diaper before he left! : )

A "Merry Christmas" Poem

'Twas a month before Christmas
When all through our land,
Not a Christian was praying
Nor taking a stand.

Why the PC Police had taken away,
The reason for Christmas - no one could say.
The children were told by their schools not to sing,
About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.

It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say
December 25th is just a 'Holiday'.
Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit
Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!

CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod
Something was changing, something quite odd!
Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa
In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.

As Targets were hanging their trees upside down At Lowe's
the word Christmas - was no where to be found.
At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears
You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.

Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty
Are words that were used to intimidate me.
Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen
On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton!

At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter
To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.
And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith
Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace.

The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded
The reason for the season, stopped before it started.
So as you celebrate 'Winter Break' under your 'Dream Tree'
Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.

Choose your words carefully, choose what you say
Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS...!!!! not Happy Holiday!
